Jobs for Senior Citizens

Being a senior citizen can be tough in terms of finding a job. Many companies prefer to high young people who would work long hours with little pay. That does not mean that seniors are out of luck though. There are plenty of jobs for senior citizens as long as you are willing to look for one.

Some of the places that seniors can work are supermarkets, fast food joints, or starting their own business. The best place to look for jobs is by looking at local classified ads or just doing a search online through sites such as craigslist or monster. Also, on the AARP website, they list companies that want to hire senior citizens. For example, Home Depot is looking for people that have experience in home improvement. Some supermarkets like Publix also like to hire seniors. A lot of times they would do jobs such as bagging and helping customers carry their groceries to their car. There are also jobs where you can work from home. A lot of call centers allow you to work from home as long as you have a phone and computer. If companies are not offering full time positions, do not forget that you can apply for part time positions too. These part time positions may transition to full time position later. When you are applying for jobs, try to apply to as many as possible. The more that you apply for, the more likely you will get a job.

If you are not interested in working at a company, you can also start your own business. There are a lot of business ideas that you can start on. For example, if you are good at fixing up houses, you may want to be a handyman. If you have the capital, you can even buy fixer upper houses, fix them up and resell for a profit. Other business ideas could be operating a babysitting service.
